Chaand Chupa Badal Mein

At night when the stars light up my room, I sit by myself, talking to the moon.           Tonight is a very special night for me, and it's Kojagiri Pournima (Sharad Pournima as some might say). Ever since a child, year after year, we celebrate this day by sitting in the night flooded with the light of the full moon, drinking milk.  Since moon is supposed to be closest to the earth on this day, the moon rays are said to have curative properties. The vessel containing the sweet is prepared and left in the moonlight to be consumed later.           According to Ayurveda, the `pitta' or acidity aggravates at the end of the monsoon season. This is the reason why cooling foods are recommended to neutralise the pitta and balance it. The consumption of cold milk and rice flakes is supposed to be a good remedy for pitta.           Coming back , I remember my mother would make me sit by the window,...

Just a Girl in a Black Dress

I happen to be that kind of a girl which doesn't go out that much. I don't. But. There's a big BUT (T) in the middle.(A teacher I used to hate in Primary School said this a bit too much). Anyway I DO like to dress up, as you can see. With the pandemic going on and stuff, I happened to organize my wadrobe, which led me to find this dress which I'd almost never wear but I loved it so much I thought why not put it in my blog ?  For my #ootd I wore a black dress with like shimmery stuff sewn in it, paired with black studs for the jewellery. Its like I'm going to a club or something. (I have never tho.) Actually this dress was gifted me a very long time ago, by my Mami who lives in New Jersey, USA. I'm surprised how the heck I still fit into that dress. For the make-up, I went for the smokey eye look and a nude lipstick to subtle the eye look. The lipstick was one of the cooler-toned nude lipsticks which goes quite well with dramatic eyes. Just like me. What can I s...

Blue Hues

It's nice na ? to experiment ? To be something more than what you were , aka your old self.  Whether you like something or not, it's decided when you are willing to experiment. I'm super skeptical to make any change but yet again, I tried. Tell me in the comments below whether you like to experiment or not. I did experiment with my make-up (as you can see in the photos), I wore a green eyeliner for the very first time in my entire life. I did such minimal makeup that I'm not able to distinguish between the no make-up look (lol). Also, all the while I was missing something traditional (I had stayed in my pj's for so long that it's UNBELIEVABLE ).I wore big silver earrings with delicate flowers on it. This dress was an old purchase for mom which I stole from her wadrobe (no surprises there obviously). It was raining so I *tried* some artsy pictures.  Tell me how do you like my ootd ?  Follow me on Instagram !  Bye for now,  Anu

Current Favorites for Healthier skin

Winter is coming. . . . I'm not talking about Game of Thrones. (Although am I ?). I was reffering to the fuss all girls (and to some extent even boys, but its normal, I'm not prejudiced) make when the winter arrives and how it affects their skin.  As I said in my earlier blogposts, I do not use too many products since I believe minimalism is the key to skincare and also partially because my skin is super sensitive, but I do like some products. Even though I don't use them regularly, I would definitely recommend it.  1. Clinique Moisture Surge.  I was a little sceptical before buying this gel-crΓ¨me but I'm super happy I bought it. Sometimes my skin gets dry and this cream is just absolutely beautiful. Its my second luxury product for skincare (can be used as a day/night cream) and I defintely use it atleast 3-4 times a week. It's a 72 hour auto-replenishing hydrator and stands by on what it preaches. This cream hydrates the skin and makes it look juicy ...

Quarantine Qooking 🍰

I have ALWAYS loved baking as long as I can remember. Baking kind of soothes me, like reading books. When I initially started the process of baking (like about a year ago), man you wouldnt even guess what I was doing in the kitchen. All of my baking outcome was a ridiculous mess. I thought I  wasn't meant to bake AT ALL. But as and when I see the my refrigerator has all the ingredients needed for baking a cake, I just float towards it like a moth to a flame. I know I'm not a good baker, nor do I say I have all the qualities, but I can't unlove baking. I just can't. There are many things in life which we cannot (yet) do, and that does not mean we should stop doing it. There are times where you suck terribly, but you still gotta appreciate that you made an effort for something that you love. Love is not what you make. Love is what you are. If you love cooking,or dancing,or whatever in the world, do it for the sake of love within you.  πŸ’“ I'm still in the initial state...

Lets Fall In Lavender !

Alright Alright I get it. This corona virus sucks, we can't get out still, and life's pretty miserable as it is with all the stuff going around us in 2020. But lets not talk about that anymore, my little heart can't take it. So lets talk about colours ! Basically I LOVE Lavender, period. I like other colours as well, obviously it depends on my mood but there's just something about Lavender that gets me everytime. So I decided to surround myself with Lavender to lift my spirits !   I wore a lavender jacket because its all I have (meh) and painted my nails lavender and also the eye-liner is lavender.  I hope you have an amazing day ahead and enjoy the photos !

20 going on 30

I know, I know. The title should be 13 going on 30 as it was one of my favourite movies when I was younger but hey! I can pass for 13 right ? Well my actions pass so ... meh πŸ˜… . As you know (or maybe not) I turned 20 on 27th June, just a couple of weeks ago. On this day I didn't dress up, didn't even try applying make up for once. I am 'me' and it is extremely gratifying and liberating.     I was thinking we could get to know each other ! Okay, I'll go first.  Here are a couple of things of me :  1. I love chocolates !  2. I'm addicted to books. (Thorough potterhead )  3. I hate dishonesty.  4. I can't live without Masala Dosa and Uttappa.  5. I make mistakes.  I try to be as honest as I am through my blogs and this is my journey so far !  Excited for upcoming adventures πŸ˜‰ Did I mention I like Balloons ? Tell me about you on Instagram ! Until we meet againπŸ’“  xoxo Anu

Hair Care 101

You know,  in this quarantine I've gotten a lot of time to take care of my hair. I think its time for some Self love !  Hair care is not just about a few standard hair products but lot more. I've always been asked about my hair being healthy (touch wood), so I'm sharing a couple of my secrets for long and healthy hair. Here they are : 1. Coconut oil / Almond oil.  I swear, these oils are a life saviour when used consistantly. I oil my hair atleast twice a week. I let my mum massage my scalp sometimes (obviously, it makes me feel special and giddy) at night and leave it overnight. Then I wash it off in the morning. Now I have normal hair so twice a week of oiling suffices. If you have dry hair, this really helps for nourishment of the scalp and also the hair looks healthy and shiny. But if you have greasy hair then maybe once a week of coconut oil massage will help. 2.Steaming. I dip my towel in hot water, squeeze the water out and twirl it and put it above my head f...

Tshirts and jeans pairings that'll save your day!

Hey guys! This is my first blog post so please bear with me ... and lets get started. As we all know that tshirts and jeans are an essential part of our wardrobe which we use daily or must certainly have as a part of our closet ..so why not style them differently and make your day by turning heads along the road ? For today I paired a stripped back t-shirt with a medium light blue denim jeans which is I guess essentially a part of regular wear ... I love Smokey eyes as this increases the oomph factor. The light pink lips also make the most of this outfit. We can also pair this outfit with white sneakers or the sandals that I have worn ... I love these sandals because they feel so wonderful ! For the second outfit: I have worn  a blue tshirt with a high waist Flare hem jeans with black heels and im in love with this oufit #ootd ...

Red Dress By Magic

Well, as I write this blog, its raining cats and dogs and I kinda miss summer.  I miss the sun on my skin.  So I thought, why not just create the vibe of it.  This outfit literally screams of summer. Let me tell you why. When I bought this dress, all I could make out of it was a beach. And sun. And tan. The list would go on and on about summer, and I'm not kidding, really. The dress I'm wearing can also be worn as an off shoulder summer-dress which is why it makes this dress perfect to wear.  I added little flowery earrings to go with the dress and some messy hair. I added black strappy sandals to go with the look. Beat that, rain! Ps: I'm sure you must have heard the song red dress. Enjoy the photos ! πŸ’• Do you miss summer too? Tell me on Instagram ! Until we meet again,  Anu
