At night when the stars light up my room, I sit by myself, talking to the moon. Tonight is a very special night for me, and it's Kojagiri Pournima (Sharad Pournima as some might say). Ever since a child, year after year, we celebrate this day by sitting in the night flooded with the light of the full moon, drinking milk. Since moon is supposed to be closest to the earth on this day, the moon rays are said to have curative properties. The vessel containing the sweet is prepared and left in the moonlight to be consumed later. According to Ayurveda, the `pitta' or acidity aggravates at the end of the monsoon season. This is the reason why cooling foods are recommended to neutralise the pitta and balance it. The consumption of cold milk and rice flakes is supposed to be a good remedy for pitta. Coming back , I remember my mother would make me sit by the window,...
You know, in this quarantine I've gotten a lot of time to take care of my hair. I think its time for some Self love!
Hair care is not just about a few standard hair products but lot more.
I've always been asked about my hair being healthy (touch wood), so I'm sharing a couple of my secrets for long and healthy hair. Here they are :
1. Coconut oil / Almond oil.
I swear, these oils are a life saviour when used consistantly. I oil my hair atleast twice a week. I let my mum massage my scalp sometimes (obviously, it makes me feel special and giddy) at night and leave it overnight. Then I wash it off in the morning.
Now I have normal hair so twice a week of oiling suffices. If you have dry hair, this really helps for nourishment of the scalp and also the hair looks healthy and shiny.
But if you have greasy hair then maybe once a week of coconut oil massage will help.
2.Steaming.
I dip my towel in hot water, squeeze the water out and twirl it and put it above my head for 10-15 mins just like in the old Hollywood movies. Yes it looks pretty and yes it nourishes my hair. This also is done by me only when I've time. After this i wash my hair in lukewarm water.

3. Shampoo.
You would think that coconut oil or almond oil is enough, but shampoo's got a whole lotta story. Honestly, finding the perfect shampoo took me ages. I have tried so many shampoos that have almost damaged my hair. Still, for now I use the Dove, Intense Repair which works out perfectly for me.
My hair is straight (as you can see in the pictures) naturally.
4. Hair masks.
Now I use hair masks only when I think my hair needs some tlc (tender love and care). These hair masks work wonders. I use the egg and honey mask. I only use it because these two ingredients are easily available in my fridge any time I want them.
They might be smelly, but eggs have acquired quite a good reputation when it comes to the beauty space. Be it your skin or hair, eggs can work wonders for both.
Mix an egg with 1 tablespoon of honey and whisk this thoroughly. Apply it all over your scalp and hair (including the lengths), leave it on for twenty minutes and then rinse.
Another mask I use is the yogurt one. 2 tbsp Yogurt and again some 1 tbsp honey should do the trick.
Now I really don't recommend using hair care products unless and until its totally necessary.
I'm definitely not the type of person who stays consistant on hair masks and stuff but these hair care tips can definitely help in having gorgeous and healthy hair.
