At night when the stars light up my room, I sit by myself, talking to the moon. Tonight is a very special night for me, and it's Kojagiri Pournima (Sharad Pournima as some might say). Ever since a child, year after year, we celebrate this day by sitting in the night flooded with the light of the full moon, drinking milk. Since moon is supposed to be closest to the earth on this day, the moon rays are said to have curative properties. The vessel containing the sweet is prepared and left in the moonlight to be consumed later. According to Ayurveda, the `pitta' or acidity aggravates at the end of the monsoon season. This is the reason why cooling foods are recommended to neutralise the pitta and balance it. The consumption of cold milk and rice flakes is supposed to be a good remedy for pitta. Coming back , I remember my mother would make me sit by the window,...
As the title suggests, let's do some closet cleaning in the given quarantine time!
If your closet is organised, obviously its easier to find stuff. That's Basic right ? But what if I told you some of the wadrobe cleaning steps which will keep it much organised than the previous scenario, where everything was a mess ?
How you organize your closet will differ slightly based on the space you have, the size of your wardrobe, and the kind of life you lead. However, these five steps can be applied to any closet and any wardrobe :
1. Spring Clean your Wadrobe.
If you own a tiny wardrobe (like me !) you are going to have to bite the bullet and scale down on the clothes that you own. Set some time aside and start organising your clothes in the following steps:
- Current wearables
- Out of season
- Recycling stuff
- Going to the Charity

After cleaning ! |
2. Box it up.
I absolutely love this box thing. My wadrobe is a little more wider than usual, so whenever I try to keep a pile of my clothes in the closet, they either tumble down on both sides or some of the clothes just vanish behind it, only for me to find it in about gazillion years.
So I went shopping for transparent boxes which would fit my closet area. I bought a couple of them, and now it's easy to just slide them out, my clothes are not hiding from me anymore, plus I can reach any types of clothes I want.
3. Hang clothes Vertically.
Most of the stuff I own doesn't need to have a hanger but sometimes I use them for hanging my coats, or leather jackets, or anything much delicate that can't be folded.
Hanging clothes can really reduce your time for organising the closet on a daily basis, also it reduces space required.
4. Rotate your wadrobe.
One of the ways I save space in my closet is by rotating my wardrobe seasonally. When the weather starts warming up in the spring, I take all of my coats, boots, and the rest of my winter wear and I pack it up into a few plastic boxes. Then I replace those items with sundresses, sandals, and other warm weather clothes. Rotating my clothes each season also gives me the opportunity to get rid of anything I haven’t been wearing (which is another great space saver!).
5. Colour code.
Lastly, I like to colour code my clothes.
Group “types” of clothing together first (ie. dresses, blouses, jackets, etc.) like I did with my T-shirts.
So go ahead, spend a couple hours and color-code that closet! I promise you it’ll make getting dressed in the morning more fun, your closet more beautiful, and your routine more efficient.

Until then,
