At night when the stars light up my room, I sit by myself, talking to the moon. Tonight is a very special night for me, and it's Kojagiri Pournima (Sharad Pournima as some might say). Ever since a child, year after year, we celebrate this day by sitting in the night flooded with the light of the full moon, drinking milk. Since moon is supposed to be closest to the earth on this day, the moon rays are said to have curative properties. The vessel containing the sweet is prepared and left in the moonlight to be consumed later. According to Ayurveda, the `pitta' or acidity aggravates at the end of the monsoon season. This is the reason why cooling foods are recommended to neutralise the pitta and balance it. The consumption of cold milk and rice flakes is supposed to be a good remedy for pitta. Thursday
Yesterday we went to buy a laptop for me but there was some technical issue and we had to wait for an hour(We already had waited for an entire day but whatever) and we (me and my mum) decided to explore the heart of the city and we started walking down the street and after walking for which felt like an hour, we decided to eat something. So ask any typical Maharashtrian what is your favorite snack? and majority of them will say either a vada pav or a samosa. So we stuck with basics of snacking and went to street vendor and stuffed ourselves with not only samosa and a vada pav but also treated ourselves with cheese bites.
But before we started eating we heard a Ghazal -Kabhi Kabhi Mere Dil Me Khayal Ata Hai, and we were enjoying the peaceful melody. We thought somebody out there had a radio on for everyone to hear it. After finishing we went towards the sound and we were astounded. We saw a man singing those beautiful, heartfelt songs just to make someone's day. His voice was so dulcet and pure, we listened to the music for almost half an hour and then returned to our route but when I look back for how he turned my bad day into a genuine heartfelt day and made me feel grateful about everything around me, I felt blessed. I thanked my mom for bringing me here and for all the experiences.
It was such a common experience but I felt more connected to the inner me and in such things we sometimes find ourselves don't we ?
I have promised myself to listen to atleast a Ghazal and thank god for giving me a life filled with happiness and be grateful for what I have .. today.
We find love right where we are.
Here's a link to the Ghazal:
Kabhi Kabhi Mere Dil Mein
Oh, and we also binged on a pineapple juice which was not at all processed. Eat a lot but don't forget to be healthy guys!
